Quarry Hill Rd Accident

On Tuesday, May 8th, at a little after 5 am, we were dispatched to a "House on Fire" on Hollow Rd. The exact address was unknown originally. Units responded with Hancock Rescue Squad 59 on the scene first with heavy smoke showing. Shortly after arrival of the first fire and rescue units, heavy fire broke through on the second floor. The fire was brought under control in about a half hour. Maryland State Fire Marshalls were on the scene and determined the fire to be arson. Although initial resources were minimal at best, eventually some 34 firefighters arrived on the scene. Assisting the two Hancock companys were Clear Spring Fire Co, Williamsport Fire Co, Berkeley Springs Fire Co., Orleans Fire Co., Franklin Co. Company 9 (MMPW) and Morgan County Medic 7. Tankers from Halfway Fire Co. and Williamsport were cancelled en route to scene. Washington County Air Unit and Rehab Unit were also on the scene. Maugansville Fire Co. stood by for Hancock during the incident.
